SERVING PINTS AND BANTER FOR OVER 100 YEARS

Records of "The Green Bar" property go back as far as 1847. The building was sold to Bridget (aka Delia) Cahalan On February 16th 1918. Delia founded The Green Bar and it remained in her family for 101 years.

The pub was sold to the Bourkes of Tower Hill in December of 2019. In March of 2020 the pub closed due to Covid 19. While closed many of the old features of the building were restored including stone work, terrazzo floors, wood beams and the fireplace.

THE GREEN 1918 REOPENED IN JUNE OF 2021

THE SHOP was the place to pick up some milk, bread or sweets for the kids. You could also get a microwaved burger (long story, ask a local!). You can still get all that now*, along with the finest coffee around.
*The burger is no longer microwaved!...

THE SNUG served the pub in many ways over the years, including being a spirits store room. It's got wallpaper from the 1930's, graffiti from the 1970's - it was even originally the pub toilet! Don't worry, that's blocked up now. :)

THE GOOD ROOM. Everyone of a certain age remembers how every house had one good room for when visitors came around! This is ours. Sure it's fierce fancy altogether!

THE GARDEN ROOM is our newest space. And we love it! From the red galvanise ceiling, the old town photos on the wall and the 'Hon Borris' neon sign... It's not a garden anymore, but it's the perfect place to book your very own private event. Call us about it!

LOUGH DERG REGION
The Ballyfinboy River flows through the town on its way to Lough Derg, only 12 km to the west. Lough Derg is a large freshwater lake on the Shannon River, the longest river in both the UK and Ireland. Navigable over its full 40 km length, Lough Derg is hugely popular with pleasure cruisers as well as sailing, canoeing, and some of the best fishing Ireland has to offer.
